Alumni Pirate Mentoring Connection Essay Contest

Here's your chance to win $$ just for connecting with an alumni Pirate Mentor while furthering your career goals!

3rd (6 winners) = $25

All you have to do is connect with an Alumni Pirate Mentor and write about it. Alumni Pirate Mentors are graduates of Seton Hall who have volunteered to provide career guidance and advice! 300+ alumni Pirate Mentors are available in Navigator representing a diverse range of industries and careers.

Requirements:Your essay must be at least 500 words (double spaced) and must include: 1. The name and career of the Pirate Mentor you've contacted between September. 1 2009 and present.
2. Your own academic and career goals
3. How speaking with your Pirate Mentor helped to clarify or change your goal(s).
4. Words of advice provided by your Pirate Mentor.
5. The next steps you plan to take in exploring your career goal(s).

Accessing Pirate Mentors:

1. Go to http://setonhall.experience.com/ and log into your Navigator account. (If you do not yet have a Navigator account, contact the Career Center.)
2. Click “Pirate Mentoring” on the navigation bar
3. In the box on the right, “Search for Mentors”, select criteria (i.e., Job Function, Title, Industry)
4. To contact a Pirate Mentor, “Send Mentor Connection Request” and compose an original email or use one of the templates provided. Some Mentors will also provide a phone number.
5. If you have not heard back from the Mentor within one week, please send an email to careers@shu.edu. The Career Center will return your email within two business days to offer assistance.

Submission Details:

E-mail your essay to careers@shu.edu with Pirate Mentor Essay Contest as the subject.
Deadline for Submission: Monday, March 1, 2010

Winners will be announced at Stillman's Integrity & Professionalism Convocation and in The Setonian.
